Digg!

Frankel’s voice is oftentimes airy and in danger of going flat, but it recovers well enough.

Frankel’s Chatterbox is reminiscent of Elliott Smith with an electronica edge. The album starts off a little shaky with “Pass Out”; the quality of his voice does not quite fit with his sound effects. The second and fifth tracks, “Don’t Leave” and “The Great Unknown,” are much better because of their simplicity through the almost bare minimum: voice and acoustic guitar. Frankel’s voice is oftentimes airy and in danger of going flat, but it recovers well enough. The album closer, “All Satellites,” has a beautiful resonance that reminds one slightly of a male sub-pop experimental version of Imogen Heap’s “Hide and Seek.”
