Michael Kupperman's latest "Tales Designed to Thrizzle" brings more of the crazy.

An ad for "Indian Spirit" chewing gum (a riff on American Spirit cigarettes), avers that the gum is "Haunted with real dead Indian flavor": "The tribes of my people used to cover the land, as numberless as the buffalo. Now we are dead and inside your sticks of chewing gum."

In "The ScaredyKids in Gangway for Murder," people keep making dramatic entrances by hurling themselves through windows into the ScaredyKids' house, thus giving them their petrified moniker.

In one of the deranged artist's many non-sequitur strips, a nincompoop mad scientist tells a man "Observe, please, that you are standing on a piece of bread. / Now I place salami, cheese, lettuce, mustard, and another piece of bread on your head.. so! / Now you are as much sandwich as man!"

If it doesn't make you laugh, that's okay. Maybe you're too limited by convention. Or mature. Or something.

The rest of us will enjoy another installment of America's least appreciated saga of two cops with more in common than they care to admit, renegade crimefighters "Snake ‘n' Bacon," plus lots more.
