With sleepy eyes and a slow stroll, I headed to the trailer to grab my bag, only to discover the trailer door open. A quick inventory showed that we had surprisingly (and thankfully) not lost any gear, but had, however, lost my suitcase.

The party was very intimate, with Jamie joining in the sit-around-the-campfire-and-sing-some-songs feel.

At the moment we are 350 miles into the 800-mile drive to San Francisco. I smell so bad I almost want to cry.

St. Louis’ Riddle of Steel makes prog-rock without the pretentiousness, Andrew Elstner’s effects-laden, intricate guitarwork gliding over the thunderous rhythm section of bassist Jimmy Vavak and Traindodge’s Rob Smith on drums while Elstner and Vavak trade off on catchy yet off-kilter vocal melodies sure to please any Police fan. No strangers to the road, RoS took off across the pond for a European tour this April. Elstner fills us in on the mayhem.Monday, 14 August 2006 03:31

Interlude | We've a pretty serious issue with our van lighting. While driving at night, the lights turn off as they please, and eventually return seconds/minutes later. It has become rather mechanical to simply flick on the hazard lights for enough light to get us through the dark time. Now, of course, this isn't horrifying in New York. The business and street lights alone are plenty of illumination, but once we get away from all of this.....hmm.

Anglo-Icelandic electronic/indie
quartet Fields came to America for a week of shows, video shoots,
oversized meal portions, and drives along the Coast. We asked Nick
Peill (vocals, guitar, keyboards) to keep track of the band's exploits.
Following is his impression of the exploits of himself and bandmates
Torunn Antonia (vocals, keyboards), Henry Spenner (drums, vocals),
Mattie Derham (bass, keyboards, vocals), and Jamie Putnam (guitar).
Fields' debut EP, 7 From the Village, came out this summer.

I was very pleased to see the crowd growing at a late hour, even though some musicians started loading out and leaving, in my opinion an egocentric slap at the other people and a damn shame. Happens all the time, hard to stop.

Six a.m. came too soon this morning. After our drunken graveyard party last night, we are all exhausted, but still in good spirits.
