Having seen Gabriel Iglesias last year at The Pageant on The Fluffy Shop Tour, I knew I would not be let down. Anytime you see Iglesias and his entourage of comedians you’re in for an amazing night of laughter that will most likely bring you to the point of tears. A little naughty at times, the first half of the show featured Iglesias’ fellow comedians Shaun Latham, Alfred Robles, Rick Gutierrez, and Martin Moreno—the sidekick to most of Iglesias’ jokes. After about two hours of anticipation, the man of the hour hit the stage. The night showcased numerous new jokes—or “experiences,” as Iglesias calls them.

After about an hour of standup, he started taking requests from the audience that had become fan-favorites. When countless requests came flying through the air, Iglesias commented, “This must be what it is like to be schizophrenic.” The audience roared every time he accepted a suggestion and the show quickly became an interactive event. Intermittently throughout the joke, the audience simultaneously shouted out the most notable lines from it as if coerced by some invisible cue card. The response appeared to amuse Iglesias, who seemed to be surprised by the power his stories had on his fans.

If you’re looking for a night of good, quality standup, don’t miss Gabriel Iglesias next time he’s in town. His lighthearted stories, candid humor, and array of equally as phenomenal counterparts will leave you and your date quoting some of the most hilarious lines for weeks to come. | Jennifer Manjarez
