Evolution of Energy is the title of the debut album from S.T.U.N., and the title is perfect for the album. The 12 tracks on the album could evoke emotion and energy from any fan of punk-rock music.

The band’s first single, “Annihilation of the Generations,” is one of the catchiest punk songs to be released in quite some time. Lead singer Christiane J. sounds similar to Perry Farrell of Jane’s Addiction. Influences such as The Clash, The Sex Pistols, and The Pixies can also be heard in the music of S.T.U.N.

S.T.U.N. is an acronym for Scream Toward the Uprising of Non-Conformity and with songs such as “Here Comes the Underground” and “Boredom,” the band does just that. The music on “Annihilation” is loud, honest, brave, and passionate.

Movement,” the first song on the album, touches on the dishonesty and deception of the government with lyrics such as “The people that make the laws and rule for us/They don’t give a fuck about us/ Our hearts are being bought/Our minds are being washed.”

With Evolution of Energy clocking in at just over 32 minutes, S.T.U.N. brilliantly mixes thought provoking lyrics with entertaining music. Neil Spies, the guitarist/lyricist of the band, wrote the adrenaline-pumping songs on the album.

In an era when most rock bands are all about partying and having a good time, it is rare to find a band unafraid to speak out against societal norms. S.T.U.N is about living life for the moment and enlightening the world and Evolution of Energy is definitely a bright light.
